On Friday, June 26 we celebrated graduation with our annual cap & gown service. Although this service was done virtually this year, the focus of the service remained the same – the celebration of the accomplishments of our graduating Class of 2020. No pandemic, or virtual service, can diminish what our graduates have accomplished! I speak for the entire school staff in stating that we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you and wish you all the best in your future! You will especially be remembered this year for your resiliency and for the unselfishness way you put the wellbeing of others first and helped ensured our community and school were safe.
The graduation service also marks the official end of the school year at Peacock Collegiate. The work of our school does not happen without the dedication of talents of our staff and volunteers. Thank you to the countless number of staff and parent volunteers who help to ensure all our students get opportunities to be deeply involved in learning and extracurricular programs at Peacock. The commitment and your dedication of your time and talent are crucial to our school.
This past year was filled with many uncertainties. Thank you families for your patience and support as we offered quality distance supplemental learning while the school was closed. We have learned that schooling can quickly change in Saskatchewan when medical situations arise and are planning with our colleagues throughout the school division to allow us to make adjustments next year should the need to use distance learning occur next year. You should expect more updates in August from the school and division about the plan to have students return to school on September 1.
Finally, it has been a privilege and an honour to work with the students, staff, and families throughout the past school year. Our students have routinely demonstrated their commitment to high achievement in a caring environment. We wish you all a restful and safe summer. We look forward to working with returning students and wish all the best for the Class of 2020!
